Department of Periodontics

Overview

This is one of the busiest Department of our college with 25 dental chairs in UG section and 10 in PG section, most of them equipped with the latest ultrasonic scalars. The department offer not only routine scaling and flap surgery but also advance periodontal surgeries like GTR, Bone grafting, Perio-Plastic surgeries and Dental Implants. There is a separate OT complex in the dept. with implantology and micro-surgery units. Along with the routine clinical & theory classes for the UG students the department encourages & help students for scientific presentations.

The department has also maintained a separate library section. The staff of dept. is abreast with latest advanced training through CME, CDE to render not only cost effective but also evidence based treatment to our patients.

The department of periodontology is concerned with the supporting structures of the teeth and measures are taken to prevent and manage the gingival and periodontal diseases. It also provides implant placement and management of implant related complications.

The department began as an undergraduate centre and later postgraduation started. The postgraduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to carry out research as a part of dissertation and otherwise.

All kinds of periodontal surgical procedures including various flap techniques, root coverage procedures and resective procedures etc are carried out. Apart from this implant procedures including advanced surgical procedures like sinus lift and ridge split and expansion are carried out.

Thus our department has a team approach in training the undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as providing a good periodontal therapy to the patients with patient comfort and optimum treatment outcome.
