Overview

Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry pertaining to the replacement of missing teeth and surrounding structures by artificial substitutes called dentures. It may involve the replacement of all or few missing teeth. These dentures may be either removable by the patient or fixed. The subject also deals with placement of implants into the bone to provide support for the artificial teeth and of missing or deficient surrounding parts like palate, cheeks, nose, eyes, ears etc by artificial substitutes.

Prosthodontics is the dental specialty involving crowns, fixed partial dentures (bridges), removable partial dentures, complete dentures, maxillofacial prostheses, and implant prostheses. Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.

I am pleased to introduce you to a department which is committed to provide the best possible treatment to our patients with compassion and ethics. Along with the regular curriculum, the department emphasizes on continuing education to widen the students’ knowledge, to catchup the latest technologies today.

We as a Department render quality patient care, education in a condutive environment with use of state of the art facilities and compatible infrastructure. Our teaching faculty are academically and professionally competent, dedicated and friendly to achive the best. We welcome all the aspiring students to do their Bachelor in Dental Surgery and Post graduation in Prosthodontics

The Department takes immense pride in its staff that has achieved great heights academically and clinically and is dedicated in encouraging the students and teaching them patiently. The department holds a high accomplished clinical working area along with fully equipped acrylic and ceramic laboratory with skilled technicians, where a large number of special cases pertaining not only to complete and partial removable and fixed prosthesis are attended to, but also a wide range of implant supported cases are explored. Maxillofacial prosthesis has been taken up in great interest by the department.

The department deals with various types of treatments including Complete Dentures, Removable Partial Dentures, Fixed Partial Dentures, Implantology, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics & Full mouth rehabilitation and Temporo- Mandibular disorders.

The department organizes many to extend our care to community scale and avail quality treatment. The department proudly claims to have delivered more than 350 complete dentures through DANTA BHAGYA Schemes under the government of Karnataka.

The department takes gratification in what it is now and thrives on increasing knowledge, We welcome all the aspiring students to do their Bachelor in Dental Surgery and Post graduation in Prosthodontics at AlBadar Rural Dental College&Hospital Kalaburagi.
