Overview

The department of OMFS spread over 10,000 sq.ft with UG & PG sections. The Department has its own major OT complex and minor OT with male & female wards of 20 Beds capacity. Apart from routine treatments such as simple extraction of teeth, surgical removal of impacted teeth. The department is fully equipped with trained staff to carry out major surgeries like Maxillofacial injuries, Maxillofacial tumours, Orthonathic surgeries and Esthetic surgeries. It has its own department of Implantalogy.

The PG’s are trained to the extent that they are capable to treat maxillofacial emergencies in our campus. They are trained in peripheral postings from various allied medical specialties.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Al Badar Rural Dental College and Hospital, Kalaburagi, is one of the premier and leading maxillofacial surgery departments in North Karnataka, which provides quality care at affordable cost. Our team at Al-Badar comprises of experienced and well trained specialists imparting high standard of education for both UG and PG training programmes.

Our department has been preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders, pioneering research in all areas of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery advancing the latest treatments and applying breakthrough methods of care, all while serving our diverse community of patients in Gulbarga. The department is active in promoting quality clinic oriented research and has trained more than 45 post graduate students till today with research and thesis surgical work on :

• Minor oral surgeries, and dental implants. Management of facial fractures, soft tissue injuries of the face.
• Orthographic surgeries, the correction of facial deformities of the jaw.
• Management of TMJ disorders, Arthroscope and reconstruction.
• Management of Maxillofacial pathology, Infections, Tumors and Cyst with reconstruction and rehabilitation.
• Management of Oral precancerous lesion and conditions.
• Management of Oral Cancer and reconstruction by microvascular free tissue transfer.
• Management of Salivary gland disorders, benign and malignant tumors.
• Surgical management of Cleft lip and palate and other congenital facial deformities.

It is the first Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to start research and surgical procedures in TMJ Arthroscope in Karnataka and first to start Integrated Implant teaching and training programme for PG’s on Basic and Advanced Implantology.
