Overview

Conservative Dentistry is the branch of dentistry which is concerned with the conservation of teeth in the mouth. It embraces the practice of operative dentistry and endodontics, and includes various kinds of direct and indirect restorations of individual teeth in the mouth. The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics offers undergraduate, Interns as well as postgraduate programs. The department has state-of-the-art technology, dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff and infrastructure to render effective and predictable services to patients. The faculty trains the undergraduate student in the subjects of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics as part of their B.D.S. curriculum. Upon graduation, the students are expected to be capable of assessing a patient’s general and oral health and of formulating a comprehensive treatment plan, which might include components from other dental disciplines.

The course will enable the student to acquire knowledge of the relevant clinical literature, to develop a scientific approach to solving problems. The course contains didactic, practical & clinical components, and taught to a high standard. The course will provide a foundation for successful clinical practice, or a stepping-stone toward an academic career.

HOD

Department of conservative Dentistry and Endodontics work under the following settings/section
1.Clinical setting/section (treat the patients) consisting of undergraduate clinic and graduate clinic (PG)
2.Academic setting/section (teach and train the undergraduate (UG) and graduate students) (PG)

In clinical setting we treat following list of disease of the tooth and surrounding structures. Fracture tooth, tooth wear (attrition, erosion, abrasion), spacing between teeth (diastema closure), tooth decay, discoloured tooth, swollen face due to tooth decay, badly broken-down teeth Etc. The list of procedure performed by the department are as follows Routine RCT(root canal treatment), complicated root canal treatment, Hemisection, Radisection, Apicectomy Splinting, Conservative bridges, Indirect esthetic restorations like porcelain/Composite inlays and onlays, Veneers, various esthetic treatments like smile design, post and core, Advance procedures like, Regeneration, revascularization, complex root canal treatment, endodontic surgery. retreatment, post and core etc. Academic setting/section of the department We train the students (UG and graduate students) in above procedure according to their course requirement and year of study, to be professionally competitive with ethical values. Infrastructure includes advanced gadgets like seiler’s surgical operating microscope, digital radiography (RVG) etc . Department assets are faculties and staff, who are enthusiastic, highly qualified, committed & dedicated. The expertise and clinical experience of staff is par excellence.
