GENERAL HUMAN ANATOMY INCLUDING EMBRYOLOGY AND HISTOLOGY

CO1 : Students should be able to demonstrate and able to appreciate the structures of head & neck.

CO1 : List the functions of various organ systems of human body and the pathophysiology of all the disorders.

DENTAL ANATOMY , EMBRYOLOGY AND ORAL HISTOLOGY

CO1 : To describe morphological features of primary and permanent teeth, its chronology, sequence of eruption, occlusion, function of each tooth and its abnormalities.

CO2 : To understand development of orofacial structures and teeth in particular and its applied aspects.

CO3 : To know various properties of dental tissues, their microscopic features, physiology, age changes and applied aspects.

CO4 : To appreciate macroscopic features, various functions of orofacial tissues and variations in dental anatomy.

CO5 : To understand basic concepts regarding lab techniques of hard and soft tissue specimen.

GENERAL PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY

CO1 : To acquire knowledge of medical ailments of their clinical consequence and appreciate the interaction of body response to different types of medical manifestations.

CO2 : To familiarize with the pathologies that effect human body.

CO3 : Acquire the knowledge of immune reactions and different types of hypersensitivity reactions.

CO4 : To know the different types of Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites , infections caused by them and their laboratory diagnosis.

CO5: To acquire the knowledge of sterilization techniques and vaccinations in dental practice.

GENERAL AND DENTAL PHARMACOLOGY AND THERAPEUTICS

CO1 : Explain pharmacological basis of prescribing medication in compromised medical situations such as pregnancy, lactation, infancy and old age.

CO2 : Describe the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of essentials and commonly used in general and dental pharmacology.

CO3 : Acquire practical knowledge of rational use of medications in clinical practice

DENTAL MATERIALS

CO1 : To identify setting time and working time of impression materials

CO2 : To know the manipulation and curing of self cure and heat cure acrylic resins

GENERAL MEDICINE

CO1 : The students should be able to examine and understand the general and clinical methods of body examination.

CO2 : The student should be familiar with the respective ailments of different body system and recognizing the ailment and effective treatment plan for the same.

CO1 : The student should be Knowledgeable about the various investigations & differential diagnosis before final treatment plan.

CO2 : The student should have acquired knowledge how to identify & consider the pathological aspects of any case and have sound critical reasoning for management & determining the prophylaxis.

ORAL PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : Describe the pathological processes that involve the oral cavity with their clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis.

CO2 : Discuss teeth abnormalities with the help of specimens and plaster casts.

CO3 : Discuss the oral manifestations of systemic diseases co-relating with physical signs and lab findings.

CO4 : Histopathological evaluation of diseases affecting oral and maxillofacial region

C05 : Describe the various methods used in forensic odontology.

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Basic knowledge of anatomy, histology, biochemistry, physiology pathology, microbiology of oral and paraoral structures including biostatistics and research methodology.

CO2 : Understand the pathological processes of oral diseases, compare and diagnose based on clinical, radiological and histopathological findings including molecular aspects.

CO3 : They should have basic knowledge on laboratory chemicals and equipments and they should be able to perform the preparation of ground sections, oral smears and histology slides including advanced techniques.

CO4 : Student should be able to identify and diagnose the diseases based on microscopy and write a report on oral diseases /lesion.

CO5 : Student should have knowledge on basic hematological tests and its clinical significance.

ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : To know significance of Case history recording, develop skills in extra oral and intra oral examination, local examination, build provisional diagnosis, investigations, Final diagnosis, prognosis and formulate treatment plan.

CO2 : Theoretical, Clinical and practical knowledge of all mucosal lesions, oral cancer, infections, TMJ disorders, Orofacial pain, cysts and tumors, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, syndromes, maxillofacial trauma, diagnostic procedures pertaining to them and latest information of imaging modules, evidence based management, dental considerations and management of medically compromised patients

CO3 : To understand the basics of Radiation Physics, effects of radiation on living tissues, radiation safety measures, X-ray films, accessories like Grids, Screen use and function, Concept of Manual and Digital Processing , Principles of projection. Understand and perform various intra-oral radiographic techniques

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the applied anatomy of the face, oral cavity, head and neck, the physiology and biochemistry, pathology and microbiology, and the pharmacologic applications including research methodology and biostatistics.

CO2 : Proficiency in general physical examination of the patient, detailed examination of the oral and paraoral structures through established standard protocols by evaluation of dental and medical history, systemic examination identification of pathologies through chair side and advanced investigations, diagnosis, prevention and evidence based management.

ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDICS

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : Define Orthodontics, process of normal growth and development of dentition and associated craniofacial structures. Differentiate the abnormality in the growth process in dental, skeletal and soft tissues of the craniofacial region and discuss their clinical implications.

CO2 : Describe the aims and objectives of Orthodontic treatment and design the treatment for preventive, interceptive and corrective procedures.

CO3 : Demonstrate the skills to make upper and lower dental arch impressions, prepare the study casts, perform model analyses and interpret the results,demonstrate effective communication skills for interactions with patients as well as professional peers. Recognize the apprehension and psychological status of the patient/parents having Orthodontic problems

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Knowledge of applied basic science, prenatal and post natal growth of head, bone growth, assessment of growth, muscles of mastication, Development of dentition and occlusion. Applied physiology, Genetics and physical Anthropology.

CO2 : Applied research methodology about Experimental design, Animal experimental protocol, Principles in the development, execution and interpretation of methodologies in Orthodontics, Critical Scientific appraisal of literature and biostatistics.

CO3 : The dynamic interaction of biologic processes and mechanical forces acting on the stomatognathic system during orthodontic treatment. And factors affecting the long stability of orthodontic correction and their management.

CO4 : Develop skills to obtain proper clinical history, methodical examination of the patient, perform essential diagnostics procedures, and interpret them and arrive at a reasonable diagnosis about the dento-facial deformities.

PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

CO2 : Distinguish between various stages of common oral diseases and describe the growth and development of a child in terms of physical , behavioral emotional and intelligence

PROSTHODONTICS AND CROWN AND BRIDGE

CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Describe aetiology, pathophysiology, periapical diagnosis and management of Restorative, endodontic situations that will include contemporary management of dental caries, management of trauma and pulpal pathoses including periodontal situations and recognize conditions that may require multi-disciplinary approach outside the realm of the specialty and able to recognize and refer to appropriate specialist.

CO2 : Perform all levels of restorative work, surgical and non-surgical Endodontics including periapical surgeries, management of avulsed tooth, endodontic endosseous implants, pulp regenerative techniques as well as endodontic-periodontal surgical procedures as part of multidisciplinary approach to clinical condition using contemporary techniques and methods.

CO3 : Update himself/herself by self-study and by attending basic and advanced courses, conferences, seminars, and workshops in the specialty of Conservative Dentistry& Endodontics, Dental Materials and Restorative Dentistry

CO4 : Use information technology tools and carry out research both basic and clinical with the aim of publishing his/her work and presenting the same at scientific platform.

CO5 : Provide basic life-saving support in emergency situations.

ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : Acquire knowledge and understanding of etiology, patho-physiology, diagnosis and treatment planning of various oral and maxillofacial surgical problems.

CO2 : Understand the general surgical principles, including pain management.

CO3 : Acquire knowledge of infection control, prevention of cross infection and hospital waste management.

CO4 : Learn to examine a patient and record blood pressure, use of different instruments and different injection techniques.

CO5 : Learn extraction of mobile and firm teeth; as well as trans-alveolar extraction of root stumps and surgical removal of simple impacted teeth, management of dento-alveolar fractures with arch bar fixation, eyelets and inter-maxillary fixations

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Understand basic sciences relevant to practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

CO2 : Learn to obtain proper clinical history, methodical examination of the patient, perform essential diagnostic procedures and order relevant laboratory tests and interpret them and to arrive at a reasonable diagnosis about the surgical condition.

CO3 : Acquire adequate knowledge and understanding of the etiology, patho-physiology, diagnosis and treatment planning of various common oral and maxillofacial surgical problems, both minor and major in nature.

CO4 : Understand the general surgical principles of pre and post surgical management, particularly evaluation, post surgical care, fluid and electrolyte management, blood transfusion and post surgical pain management.

CO5 : Perform with competence minor oral surgical procedures and common maxillofacial surgical problems. To treat both surgically and medically (or by other means of the oral and maxillofacial and the related area).

CO6 : Acquire essential knowledge of infection control, prevention of cross infection and safe disposal of hospital waste to prevent the spread of Hepatitis and HIV.

CO7 : Develop attitude to adopt ethical principles in all aspects of surgical practice. Professional honesty and integrity are to be fostered. Surgical care is to be delivered irrespective of the social status, caste, creed or religion of the patient.

PERIODONTOLOGY

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : Describe and diagnose periodontal diseases and conditions.

CO2 : Identify the relationship between the periodontal diseases and the various medical conditions.

CO3 : Differentiate between different periodontal diseases

CO4 : Instruct the patient on how to maintain proper periodontal health

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate

CO1 : Should have a basic knowledge on research methodology ,biostatistics and be able to apply it in various research projects as well as dissertations.

CO2 : Should have a understanding on the normal structure of periodontium and the contributing etiological factors resulting in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases and be able to apply this knowledge in the diagnosis.

CO3 : Should be able to record indices and plan out epidemiological survey to assess the prevalence and incidence of early onset periodontitis and adult periodontitis in Indian Population.

CO4 : Should have an updated knowledge on the recent advancements and be able to modify their treatment accordingly.

CO5 : Should be aware of the various designs and placement of oral implants and follow up of implant restorations.

CO6 : Should be knowledgeable to provide clinical care for patients with complex problems that are beyond the treatment skills of general dentist and demonstrate evaluative and judgment skills in making appropriate decision regarding prevention, correction and referral to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY

Course Outcomes: Undergraduate

CO1 : At the conclusion of the course the student shall have a knowledge of the basis of public health, preventive dentistry, public health problems in India, Nutrition, Environment and their role in health, basics of dental statistics, epidemiological methods, National oral health policy with emphasis on oral health policy.

CO2 : At the conclusion of the course the students shall have require at the skill of identifying health problems affecting the society, conducting health surveys, conducting health education classes and deciding health strategies. Students should develop a positive attitude towards the problems of the society and must take responsibilities in providing health.

CO3 : At the conclusions of the course the student should be able to communicate the needs of the community efficiently, inform the society of all the recent methodologies in preventing oral diseases.
